About The Osmonds’ upcoming winter UK tour:
Over 50 years on, The Osmonds are as active now as they’ve ever been, and still fronted by brothers Merrill and Jay.
Beginning life as the The Osmond Brothers – featuring Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay – the group recorded their first album in 1963 and since that time – with the addition of Donny, Marie, and Jimmy along the way – the family has collectively released approximately 200 albums.
From the start, The Osmonds knew that variety was their key to a successful recording career and they have covered just about every musical genre imaginable, including (but not limited to): Barbershop, Pop, Rock, Disco, Country, Gospel, Broadway, Swing and Jazz. In addition, they have recorded in eight different languages including Swedish, Japanese, Samoan, German, Spanish, French and Latin besides their native tongue.
As a result, the group have had a phenomenally successful recording career, selling over 100 million albums worldwide, and picking up a staggering 59 gold and platinum records in total.
The Osmonds’ first big hit ‘One Bad Apple’, released on MGM Records, went straight to No.1, where it stayed for an impressive six weeks, while their 1974 smash, ‘Love Me For A Reason’ (written by 70’s hitmaker, Johnny Bristol) went global again over 20 years later, when it was covered to huge success by Irish pop group Boyzone.
Jay would later front the band for the group’s enormously popular single ‘Crazy Horses’ – a song about pollution that was way ahead of its time and is perhaps their most instantly recognisable hit – while Merrill has also achieved success as a solo artist.
With each album recorded, The Osmonds’ talents and abilities have continued to grow, and even after all these years, they still know how to touch the hearts and souls of their fans. No other musical group or family can match their harmonies, and few can touch their collective achievements or commercial success.
Perhaps more impressive is that over the course of nearly six decades, The Osmonds have never stopped recording and continue to enjoy enormous success worldwide. But Make no mistake – the best is yet to come!
