Work with us

Newcastle Cathedral is currently recruiting!

CANON FOR OUTREACH AND DISCIPLESHIP

The Bishop of Newcastle, in collaboration with the Dean and Chapter, seeks to appoint a new Canon Residentiary to Newcastle Cathedral.

With the announcement of a £6M refurbishment and a passionately committed team including a recently appointed Dean and Archdeacon, the new Canon will join a Cathedral excited to be on the cusp of delivering a reimagined future that seeks to ‘make sacred space common ground’.

As well as sharing in the whole ministry and mission of the Cathedral the newly appointed Canon for Outreach and Discipleship will lead the Cathedral’s engagement with the city’s communities and developing its discipleship programmes; they will also be the Safeguarding lead for the Cathedral.

We hope for a prayerful colleague who will cherish our desire to be generous, open and engaged, our commitment to radical hospitality and inspiring worship. Someone who enjoys working as part of a lively team and who will find being with us fun, if sometimes hectic. Above all a fellow pilgrim who is passionate about the wideness of God’s love for the world shown in Jesus and ready to work with us for the building of his Kingdom here in the great city and Diocese of Newcastle.
