Archbishops ask cathedrals and churches to toll bells for Notre Dame

On Thursday 18th April Newcastle Cathedral Guild of Bellringers will toll the Bourdon bell for 7 minutes up to 6:30pm in support of the French people following the fire at Notre Dame.

It follows a call from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York who have encouraged, where possible, all Cathedrals and Churches across England to toll a bell for 7 minutes at 7pm (or as close as can be accommodated) this Thursday, as a mark of solidarity following the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral.

This initiative has been suggested by the British Ambassador to France, Edward Llewellyn, and it is hoped that many will take part.
