There are many reasons to celebrate with us this festive season!

Posted on: December 4th, 2018

Newcastle Cathedral is literally buzzing with excitement as we head towards the most magical time of the year.

In October, the Cathedral and it’s community were delighted to officially welcome The Very Revd Geoff Miller as new Dean of Newcastle at his Collation, Induction and Installation ceremony. Read Geoff’s thoughts as he begins his new role and view a selection of pictures from his installation ceremony in the latest edition of Cathedral Notes.

The Cathedral has been working immensely hard to prepare and submit a round two application to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a second tranche of funding (£4.2 million) for the Cathedral’s Common Ground in Sacred Space project. Particularly mention must go to the entire CGISS Project Team, ably lead by Project Manager Lindy Gilliland, who have gone above and beyond to prepare a very strong case for further HLF funding. We will find out the result in March 2019. Find out more in Cathedral Notes.

And if that wasn’t enough…

We have an exciting and eclectic Special Services, Events and Concerts Calendar to celebrate the most magical time of year at Newcastle Cathedral.

Throughout December there will be many events to enjoy, ranging from the Cathedral Choir and New Tyneside Orchestra’s Christmas Extravanganza to our Walking Nativity Lantern Procession where all the family can join in the Nativity story with Mary and Joseph and lots of carols!

And if you want to take a break from your Christmas shopping, why not pop in to rest, reflect and listen to fabulous music sung by the renowned Cathedral Choir at Evensong every Monday-Thursday at 5:30pm.

We look forward to welcoming you to Newcastle Cathedral over the festive season!
